Economically active population and its incidence in the tourism sector of the Alausí canton

Abstract

The Alausí canton, being recognized nationally and globally, Magic Town, is characterized by having a diversity of settings and different natural tourist places unique in the country being exploited for the benefit of local merchants, which attracts hundreds of tourists daily. domestic and foreign. To determine the influence of tourism on the socio-economic development of the inhabitants of the locality, a survey was applied to the Economically Active Population of the Alausí canton, as a methodological tool obtaining information on the economic activity of its inhabitants, as tourism influences growth. economic, the existence of businesses and its high dependence on tourists, also the problems detected in the stagnation in its economy despite being the area a tourist place.

Once the problem is identified, the living conditions of the inhabitants of the canton can be improved, working together with the rulers on duty, in socialization programs of all the tourist places that Alausí has, where national and foreign visitors have various alternatives to visit allowing local merchants, artisans, tourist agencies, hoteliers to strengthen their activities, creating sources of employment and boosting the economy of the sector.
